How awesome are books? Who else loves to get a new book (whether it's yours to keep or borrowed)? Seriously, I can't fathom not being excited about new books.

My CoW cleaning spree I mean. Yup, I spent yesterday working on cleaning & rearranging the CoW. Not that I needed to, but because reasons.
Did you know that taking a vegetable peeler to a bar of soap is not considered "normal"? Shocking isn't it?
This is just a little of what I have been feeling today. I'm not asking for feedback.
I rarely talk about my political or religious views, because I choose not to open myself up to the criticism or speculation of others. My beliefs are my own & no one's to question. On this rare occasion however, I am telling you how I feel about one of these & I'll respect your right to agree or disagree, but I will not tolerate judgement or lectures. Yes, it is the third day of school & we are all still alive. Only a few minor incidents, such as the Chicken's glasses breaking at school, necessitating an impromptu (yet overdue) visit to the optometrist, resulting in the Chicken going from a four eyed kid to a two eyed babe. Yup, the Chicken finally got contacts. He is much happier. Also, much to the surprise of the parental units (aka the Stork & I) the Squab is in Honors Chemistry this year. He came home happy yesterday because he has the opportunity to participate in the "Concurrent Credit" program at school. This means that he can earn college credit for taking Honors Chem this year. **Wow** In other big news... I killed a spider! Trust me, this is a big deal for me. I don't do spiders, not even lil' baby ones the size of a pin head. (Which is why I was able to kill this one.) Believe me when I tell you, this one actually was threatening public safety, as he was climbing all over the windshield of my bird mobile (aka the van) while I was driving. Seriously, the last thing anyone needed was that lil' guy to swing into my face causing me to freak & swerve into oncoming traffic. Honestly, they terrify me. Really, I'm still traumatized almost thirty minutes later. Call me ridiculous & over-dramatic if you will, but unless you have an irrational fear of something that you can rationally overpower, you'll never understand. Anyway, below is a dramatization of how I TRIUMPHANTLY killed the spider that threatened to attack me while I was driving. (As a bonus for you, I added a pic of the spider pre-murder.) Bless The Google Earth for having accurate images of this event. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.
Aloha hugs, ~Clare The above picture brought to you by yours truly. Yes, this is breakfast I started my boys' first day of school with. It is a tradition I started when the Squab started kindergarten. We have done it every year since then. I love it & so do they.
Yup, it's the first day of school! As expected I have mixed emotions because while I am happy to finally have all the human males out of the house after three months of the Chicken & Squab home everyday, I will also miss those two. I'm a mom, we get mindbogglingly emotional when it comes to our kids. You can't fault me. The plan for the day is to nap & possibly, actually, maybe get some work done. I did promise the Chicken crockpot ribs for dinner, that is the only concrete event, aside from picking them up from school, that I have planned for the rest of the day. So, I'm off to finish forcing the Chicken into getting ready. The Squab starts almost an hour before his brother, so he is out the door & presumably (because he caught a ride with friends) at school. Have a gorgeous Monday my loves! Aloha hugs, ~Clare Listening to Pandora right now, on my country station & Lady Antebellum's 'Hey bartender' came on. I love this song, honestly because of the line, "What I really need right now is a double shot of Crown." & well, because it's bouncy. The song inspired me to go to, you guessed it, The Google. Yup! My buddy was accommodating as usual, when I typed into the image search the term "Hey bartender". Here is my pic pick. And that is all.
Aloha, ~Clare Yesterday I was bored, so I made a thing to hang from the hook that is above the bottom of our stairs, which is where I hang our faux mistletoe from every Christmas. It bothers me that nothing hangs there the rest of the year. It seems wasteful to take it down after Christmas (bless you 3M corporation for your Command adhesive line) & throw away the adhesive only to have to put it back up again the following year. So I made this. It is currently hanging in it's spot above the bottom of the stairs. I think it is awesome. I think what is more awesome is the fact that 4 human males not only noticed it without my mentioning, but also complimented/kinda raved about it. (The Chicken had a friend hanging out, so don't think I added another husband, because I haven't. Yet.) So, there ya go. Now I'm off to (hopefully) bed. Btw, fun fact for ya. The font color of this post matches the current color of my face & eyeballs. No, I'm not drunk (yet, but I am on my way to waving at it from the car window). I just happen to be suffering from a case of (alcohol induced) allergies.
Don't forget to comment on my previous post here for your chance to win an art piece created (by me) just for you! Aloha gang, ~Clare So, I have been thinking that because you know, bubbles, I should post something on the blog. So I've been sitting here in my CoW (Cave of Wonder in case you forgot) trying to think of what I could write.
I got nuthin. Seriously, I couldn't think of a single thing to write. I mean, teenagers annoy tremendously during the summer, but who wants to hear about that? Spouses always get on nerves, what else is new? I turn forty in less than a week, but who really cares about that? (Not me truthfully, because you know, bubbles.) Anyway, just wanted to post a pic of the happy bubble & a link to my Kana Girl's page to get you to see the latest pieces I dropped off at the restaurant. So until I think of something else to babble about, go blow some bubbles! Aloha, ~Clare Just a quick pop in to confirm my continued existence.
As the post title says, I have mixed feelings about today. You see, it is my mother-in-law's birthday, which always makes me happy. However, as you may remember, she was moving to Texas (curse you lone star state!). That actually happened last week & today is the first time in many years that we have not been able to celebrate her birthday with her. Which makes me sad. Anyway, I'm doing my best not to get too sad, which today has included watching 'Harry Potter' movies (again) & just hanging out with the Squab & Chicken. The Stork is at work after a week off (thank you Monday!) Well, I have to go start dinner now. I'll check back later in the week, because things, good things have been happening. Until then, aloha my loves! ~Clare “It isn't procrastination if you put it off right away” - Unknown I like that quote. It suits my current mood of not wanting to come up with a specific blog topic. I would however like to mention that today, after four Twixless years, the Squab has finally gotten his braces off. Which means we can now indulge in our favorite candy bar (Twix in case you didn't catch that). Hooray for Twix! Anyway, my mother-in-law is leaving in a few days & I have a couple of things I need to get together for her to take with her. That & I am being an Angry Aardvark (see picture below) because certain male members of my household (read: human & feline) won't stop interrupting my work! Until next time m'dearies!
~Clare Happy Saturday gang!
