A different kind of hoarder...

Or...What do you do with old magazines?
Besides donate them to doctors' offices & other various waiting rooms?  Do you donate them to your local library or a grade school art class perhaps?  Or are you one of those thrifty people who shreds them to use as mulch/weed block in your landscapes & garden?  Maybe you're lucky enough to live in an area that has recycling stations for such things.

In my house, like many others I suspect, they used to pile up forever & eventually find their way into the trash, to be sent to a landfill somewhere. Now however, they pile up & live in my CoW, waiting for a renewed life as packing material, gift wrap or maybe even part of a new art piece.  If they are really lucky, they become the new art piece.

Like this very "cute" first attempt at making a magazine basket.  As usual, I had no real idea or plan when I started.  I just had a vague notion of what I wanted after a dozen half glances at various tutorials I found on Pinterest.  Then I totally, absolutely, did not follow any of them.  Because I'm a rebel that way.

This "aerial" view is to show you that wonky really is a shape.

Here's an attempt at showing you that it does not exactly sit level or flush at all. Yes, it's wonky shaped.

Here's a pic of the inside. I picked this particular add for the bottom, as an inside joke, because most people just throw things in baskets until they're too full to hold anything else.

I actually meant to put this picture on the inside, but oh well.

So, there you have it.  Not too bad for a girl without a clue don't ya think?

No worries though despite the wonkyness, this will not be my last attempt.  On the contrary, I solemnly vow to attempt at least one more wonky shaped basket in my lifetime.  Or at least this year.

Btw, being decidedly pleased with myself in this endeavor, I am declaring this today's bit of Everyday Joy.  What was yours?

Aloha hugs until later,
-Clare
