Grrrrrrrrrr.........

So one thing I think you will need to know/get used to, is that I have many different phrases & sayings that I like to use.  The title of this entry is one that I find myself using quite a lot now that my oldest is a teenager.  I use it even more when I'm working.

For instance, I started a new wreath a few days ago, which I had high hopes for.  Unfortunately, I decided to use a new type of foam form for it.  Not exactly what I have worked with before & not something I am 100% certain I will use again.

Anyway, I have been having problems with getting this wreath/form to stay shaped the way that I want it to.  It is to be another yarn wreath & of course I started having problems with the yarn once I figured out how to make the form work for me.  I was more than three- quarters of the way done with it & becoming increasingly more pleased with it when I put it down Friday evening.

Well, I lost yesterday to one of those nasty beasties that many of us suffer from these days.  Yes, I'm talking about migraines.  They suck & we hate them, but not many of us have been able to tame them.  So I spent my yesterday being miserable & really barely accomplishing getting dressed.  I did manage, with my hubby's help, to make dinner.  It was one of our ohana's (family's) favorite meals & I have been craving it for a few weeks now.

Oops!  Caught myself starting to ramble.  Alright, back to the story!

When I walked into my craftroom/office, also known as "The Cave of Wonder", henceforth to be referred to as the CoW, this morning, the first thing I did was utter a very loud "Grrrrrrrrrr!"  Why? Well, the wreath form started to come apart.  It was sliding out of the fastener (aka duct tape) I had used.

Of course you know this means I have to completely unravel it & start over.  Luckily for me, this tends to be a regular part of my creative process.  So, after taking a short break to brew myself a cuppa tea, I came back to start over.

Which is why I'm sitting here attempting to write an interesting blog post.  Because I am procrastinating.  Because part of my creative process is to become distracted & work on other projects while the tiny little cobbler in the tiny little back room in the very backest part of the crazy labyrinth that is my mind tries to come up with a better way to make that wreath.  He will, at some point, get up & have a french fry break with the ogre that runs the random machine in the middle of the upper level, but that won't last long, because they can't agree on the amount of salt to add to the fries.  No, they have never thought of dividing the fries onto two plates, they don't think that way.

Anyway, that's pretty much the point.  I think.  Was there a point?  I don't remember.  Maybe?

Either way, you have now wasted at least (hopefully) two full minutes of your day & have become at least partially distracted from whatever was stressing you before.  Unless of course no one but me is reading this.  In that case, I have just spent a full half hour attempting to entertain myself.  Which is time well spent, because not only am I easily entertained, I am also easily distracted by ooh dust particles....

I have been wracking my brain trying to come up with a list of things to write about in this blog.  As I have previously stated, I find myself to be quite boring.

A friend, fellow mom, regular blogger & (dare I compare myself?) fellow artist suggested I write about the projects I am working on.  I considered this, but what I came up with was the following:

I started another Sharpie on canvas project, didn't like what I did & decided to cover it with tissue paper, then I got stuck.  I also started a heart shaped, tulle covered wreath for Valentine's Day, but I didn't like the way it looked when I finished 95% of it, so I unwrapped it & then I got stuck.

See what I mean?  Not too interesting.  So I decided that if nothing else, I can occasionally add quotes that I find inspirational, motivational, silly, random, depressing or (one of my favorite words...) nonsensical.  I can even attempt to explain why I find it the way I find it.  At least then I will not feel so bad that my boringness (it's a word {now}) does not let you down too much.

From now on, I declare to feel less pressured to entertain & more encouraged to update & inspire in one way or another.  Because even a depressing quote can be inspirational to someone.  After all, they do say, one man's trash is another man's breakfast.  (Or something like that.)

The quote following this ramble, in my mind needs no explanation.

Aloha hugs!

“Only through art can we emerge from ourselves and know what another person sees”   - Marcel Proust

I found the quote above, as I was trying to remember one of my other favorite Proust quotes.  I can't decide if I like/agree, but it seemed profoundly right at the time I choose it.  You can click on it & it should take you to the sight I found it on.

So, this blogging thing does not come easy for me.  Even as A child I was not very good at keeping a journal.

Only once, in college, was I ever able to commit to regular writing & that was because I had decided to spend an entire month writing a letter to one of my best friends.  And I only decided to do that, because I wanted to prove to myself that I could keep myself interested enough in myself to fill more than a two page letter.  If I remember correctly, my thought was that if I could keep myself interested, as I have always found me to be quite boring, then my friend would not be bored either.  Confounded thinking I know, but welcome to my brain.  Needless to say, I forced myself to add to this letter every day & at the end of the month, my friend had thirty plus pages & I haven't put myself through that again.

I'm rambling, sorry.  I tend to do that, as my thoughts (please for give the analogy) are like wild mustangs that occasionally stop at the fence to let you look at them.  Or in my case, make semi-coherent sense of them.

(Realizes you're screaming "Get to the point!")  Sorry again.  Um, my point.  Yes, my point.  I had one here somewhere.  I was heading toward it & then the door to responsibilityland opened & reality asked me to make dinner.  That's right, my point snuck out of the room when the door opened.

Okay, I'll let you off the hook.  My point was, that I am hoping to be able to keep up with this blog thing as often as possible.  I honestly don't know what I'll write about, as I always seem to run out of things other people want to hear.  I may just end up telling you about projects I'm working on.  If I can get over myself long enough to play nice, I may recruit one of the recruits to help me do tutorials.  Or I may just say hello.

For everyone's sake, I hope I can keep it interesting & fun.  Until next time my pretties...

Aloha,
-Clare

Aloha folks!

I would like to start off by telling you how incredibly grateful I am that you decided to stop by.  I would also like to apologize in advance for this blog.  You see, I'm randomly sarcastic & quite often scatter-brained.  I do try to keep my thoughts organized, but sometimes my fingers have a mind of their own & my train of thought gets derailed.  Oh yes, I can also be boring & long winded.  Please bare with me when it does, as it is not done on purpose.

My intention is to keep this blog as up to date as possible.  I hope to be able to use it as a forum for answering your questions & eventually, giving you updates or behind the scenes looks at what projects I have on my table.

Cross your fingers for me, because I am going to need all the help & luck I can get to keep your lives full of love, provide you with occasional entertainment, guide you in being & sharing Aloha & hopefully getting you to enjoy some of my creations at the same time!

Again, thank you so much for stopping by & please feel free to leave your comments or questions.

-Clare
