And the sky is cold and gray,
And the wind in the trees keeps complaining
That summer has passed away; ” - William Wetmore
Hope you're all having a wonderful, relaxing weekend.
Aloha hugs,

“The rain keeps constantly raining, And the sky is cold and gray, And the wind in the trees keeps complaining That summer has passed away; ” - William Wetmore Just wanted to pop in for a quick minute to say hi. I'm in my Cave of Wonder painting with nail polish while outside the wind & the rain have combined with our water fountain & my wind chimes to create a beautiful, peaceful symphony to contradict the boisterous noise of the football game in the other room.
Hope you're all having a wonderful, relaxing weekend. Aloha hugs, ~Clare

What today feels like.
My Pinterest page when I logged in this morning was inundated with food pins. This is not cool. I'm hungry & desperately trying to do the things before the stuff, but in order for the stuff to happen, I must do the things!
So, my post today will be devoted to epic cooking fail pins. Yes, it is the third day of school & we are all still alive. Only a few minor incidents, such as the Chicken's glasses breaking at school, necessitating an impromptu (yet overdue) visit to the optometrist, resulting in the Chicken going from a four eyed kid to a two eyed babe. Yup, the Chicken finally got contacts. He is much happier. Also, much to the surprise of the parental units (aka the Stork & I) the Squab is in Honors Chemistry this year. He came home happy yesterday because he has the opportunity to participate in the "Concurrent Credit" program at school. This means that he can earn college credit for taking Honors Chem this year. **Wow** In other big news... I killed a spider! Trust me, this is a big deal for me. I don't do spiders, not even lil' baby ones the size of a pin head. (Which is why I was able to kill this one.) Believe me when I tell you, this one actually was threatening public safety, as he was climbing all over the windshield of my bird mobile (aka the van) while I was driving. Seriously, the last thing anyone needed was that lil' guy to swing into my face causing me to freak & swerve into oncoming traffic. Honestly, they terrify me. Really, I'm still traumatized almost thirty minutes later. Call me ridiculous & over-dramatic if you will, but unless you have an irrational fear of something that you can rationally overpower, you'll never understand. Anyway, below is a dramatization of how I TRIUMPHANTLY killed the spider that threatened to attack me while I was driving. (As a bonus for you, I added a pic of the spider pre-murder.) Bless The Google Earth for having accurate images of this event. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.
Aloha hugs, ~Clare The above picture brought to you by yours truly. Yes, this is breakfast I started my boys' first day of school with. It is a tradition I started when the Squab started kindergarten. We have done it every year since then. I love it & so do they.
Yup, it's the first day of school! As expected I have mixed emotions because while I am happy to finally have all the human males out of the house after three months of the Chicken & Squab home everyday, I will also miss those two. I'm a mom, we get mindbogglingly emotional when it comes to our kids. You can't fault me. The plan for the day is to nap & possibly, actually, maybe get some work done. I did promise the Chicken crockpot ribs for dinner, that is the only concrete event, aside from picking them up from school, that I have planned for the rest of the day. So, I'm off to finish forcing the Chicken into getting ready. The Squab starts almost an hour before his brother, so he is out the door & presumably (because he caught a ride with friends) at school. Have a gorgeous Monday my loves! Aloha hugs, ~Clare Sorry I've been away for a bit. Things. Stuff. Life. You know how it is. This past week was the last week of summer vacation for my boys & we've been, well you know how it goes. We tried to pack a few fun things into this week. Like this... Imagine if you will, coming home from work one day, dog tired, mentally worn out from having to deal with "PEOPLE".
You pull into your driveway (or parking spot), do the usual getting out of the car routine & head into your house (or place of residence). You walk through the door & once inside grab the doorknob to shut the door behind you. Would you notice this? Listening to Pandora right now, on my country station & Lady Antebellum's 'Hey bartender' came on. I love this song, honestly because of the line, "What I really need right now is a double shot of Crown." & well, because it's bouncy. The song inspired me to go to, you guessed it, The Google. Yup! My buddy was accommodating as usual, when I typed into the image search the term "Hey bartender". Here is my pic pick. And that is all.
Aloha, ~Clare Recently I was asked/invited to participate in a blog hop. I've heard of them, but never really paid much attention, as I am generally disinterested in things that require much reading. Honestly, it's not that I don't like to read, because I do, I just have a hard time concentrating for long periods of time (by long periods I mean anything over two minutes) if my mind & body are not on the same plane.
Just felt like sharing a bunch of my pins from Pinterest. Because I (nasty free thinking girl that I am) can. Having started with that, I will now switch gears & share some of my music/lyrics pins. Mostly because I have been listening to a lot more music lately & it has really dawned on me how tied to our emotions & memories a song can be. And again, because I can. I just realized that I have never before mentioned my ABSOLUTE LOVE for HARRY CONNICK, JR.! (Bad fangirl! Bad, bad fangirl!) And finally, (in my humble opinion) the wisest words from the great Bob Marley... Aloha 'til later my loves!
~Clare Yes, the picture above is of my backyard bench. All alone. Waiting for people to sit on it. For a family photo shoot.
Actually, the bench is on the north side of my yard in this pic. Under my arctic willow bushes (named Talkeetna & Denali after two of my favorite places in Alaska). In the area where the grass does not want to grow because of the shade & slight inversion that causes the water from the sprinklers to pool & flood. I'd love to keep the bench here. It is a beautiful spot in my opinion & in the summer when it's hot, this area is cooler than the rest of the yard. I can imagine sitting there reading a book or pulling the leaves off willow branches to make wreaths. The only drawback is that my neighbors' dogs don't like it when I hang out on that side of the yard. They think I'm invading their territory. Silly doggies! |
More about "ME"Aloha my name is Clare! My main job title is Mom, but I'm also an artist, crafter, avid experimental cook & occasional rabid baker.
