Neglectful Nelly...

Yes, I have been one & I am sorry.  Life has been happening, so whatever. You just have to go with it & make as lemon cake as you can. (You know, from the lemons.)

Anyway, I have been creating much as possible & decided I'd share with you one of the things I've done recently.  With pictures.  Like a tutorial, only not.

I am pleased with how it turned out, considering it was a recycled materials project & I had absolutely no idea or real plan whatsoever.  (Yay me!)
Picture
Here are some of my materials.
Picture
The first thing I did was cut the toilet paper rolls in half.
Picture
After cutting several rolls in half, I cut a few paper towel rolls the same size & layered them.

Picture
I glued several layers of rolls together to make columns. (I think it was 3 toilet paper & 1 paper towel roll per column.) I ended up with 5 columns total.
Picture
It's hard to tell, but this is several layers of miscellaneous box pieces cut to the size & shape I wanted. I then glued the pieces together to make a sturdy platform.
Picture
Next I covered the columns in duct tape. Not only does this ensure that they stay together, but it also makes them a uniform color to fit the decor of the room this project was made for.

Picture
Here's what I used in my next few steps.
Picture
Next I took my columns & positioned them on the platform. I then traced their placement for gluing.

Picture
Next I flipped it all over & used a level to make sure that all my columns were the same height. See my bubbles?
Picture
After I leveled it all off, I flipped it back over & glued the columns in place. I did kind of cut little canals in the previously traced spots, so that the columns would kind of nestle into the platform.

Picture
Once the columns were set, I proceeded to cover the platform in the same duct tape I used on the columns.
Picture
After the entire thing was covered in duct tape (including taping the columns to the platform for added support) I checked for levelness one more time. ****Bubbles***

Viola! Here you have a finished stand for a small computer monitor.

Like I said, no plan whatsoever.  I'm pretty impressed with myself.  Really.

Unfortunately, I don't have any pics of it in use, because 1) I made it for the Squab & his room is a minefield, 2) His room is a minefield & 3) His desk & monitor are both black, so the stand kind of blends in & no matter how hard I tried, I could not get a decent pic.

Okay, that's it for now.  I'll be back.  Sometime.  Until then, behave & be nice.

Aloha hugs,
-Clare
