Why be "normal"?

Did you know that taking a vegetable peeler to a bar of soap is not considered "normal"?  Shocking isn't it?
Recently I was told that this, one of my favorite things to do, was not something that regular people do.  Regular?  Do you mean people who have consistent bowel movements?  Or is it people who dwell above ground?

What is regular?  What is normal?  And who the hell gets to decide?

The phrase "Why be normal?" is one I am more than familiar with.  It was written all over my books when I was a teenager.  It has kind of become a personal mantra, as I truly believe that we were all created to be sparklingly different.

***I'm pretty sure we have Dr. Seuss to credit for the full sentiment: "Why be normal when you were born to stand out."***

So you can imagine my surprise when I was informed that people don't generally take vegetable peelers to bars of soap. Why this is, is beyond me, because it is soooooo very cathartic.  Really, you should try it.

Momentarily stunned by this revelation & trying hard not to question/reevaluate my understanding of the entire meaning of everything ever, I peeled my thumb.  ***No thumbs were injured during making of the inspiration of this post, as the peeler blades were covered in soap & it coated my thumb!***

Anyway, to make a long story short, I'm gonna keep peeling soap with my peeler 1) because I like it 2) because no one uses this particular peeler anyway & it should not have to feel unloved 3) because if I don't the soap will never get used as my sensitive skin does not like bar soap 4) the soap shavings stay purdy smelling for years & I likes purdy smelling things.

Here's my pics of the latest, honey scented, bar of soap I have peeled.  Enjoy!

This is right after I started & realized I didn't take a pic. Notice the bee & honeycomb pattern on the front? Gorgeous color right?

This is 3/4 of the way through the bar. Isn't that a beautiful sight? Like honey scented flakes of sunshine.

I had originally thought that the black spec was part of a bee's stinger, but now I'm not so sure. Isn't it cool though? Yes, I peeled it off in a flake, put it in a jar & photographed it sitting on the inside of my phone case. Because I can.
